Del 26 de Septiembre al 5 de Octubre se lleva a cabo Instrumenta Contemporánea 2008 en la ciudad de Oaxaca ofreciendo cursos de composición impartidos por Emmanuel Nunes (Portugal), Marcelo Toledo (Argentina), Miller Puckett (EEUU), Ǻke Parmerud (Suecia), y Karlheinz Essl (Austria), entre otros. En este evento participa el violinista Ludwig Carrasco en donde presentará diversos conciertos con obras entre las que se incluyen Einspielung I para violín solo de Emmanuel Nunes y Reflejos Distantes de Karola Obermüller, así como diversos estrenos mundiales de los jóvenes compositores Jorge David, Paúl León Morales, Josué Zamora, y Eduardo Caballero.

MEXCULTURA INICIA TRANSMISIONES DE SU CANAL EN YOUTUBE / MEXCULTURA STARTS BROADCASTING ITS YOUTUBE CHANNEL
En días pasados MEXcultura inició la transmisión de su canal en Youtube. El objetivo es de difundir las actividades de sus artistas representados y poder llegar a un número mayor de personas interesadas en el arte. Los videos que inician estas transmisiones incluyen intepretaciones del Trío Morelia (Triple Concierto de Ludwig van Beethoven así como una sonata del manuscrito anónimo de la catedral de la ciudad de México) y se irán incrementando progresivamente en las próximas semanas.

The initial videos include performances by the Trio Morelia (Beethoven´s Triple Concerto as well as a sonata from the 18th century anonymous manuscript from the Mexico city cathedral) and new videos will be added continuously in the next weeks.

RESCATE DE MÚSICA MEXICANA / REDISCOVERY OF MEXICAN MUSIC
El pasado día 25 de Septiembre a las 19 hs. se llevó a cabo un concierto de música mexicana para violín y piano con el propósito de rescatar y promover el repertorio existente para esta dotación instrumental. El evento estuvo a cargo de Ludwig Carrasco (violín) y Laura Carrasco (piano) y en él se presentaron obras de Arnulfo Miramontes, Alfredo Carrasco, Ricardo Castro, Mario Lavista, José Sabre Marroquín, Mario Kuri Aldana, y Miguel Bernal Jiménez.
Este concierto fue realizado dentro de las actividades que organiza el Museo Casa Natal de Morelos de la ciudad de Morelia por los festejos del mes patrio.

FESTIVAL DE MÚSICA BARROCA Y ANTIGUA / BAROQUE MUSIC FESTIVAL
Héctor Sosa, reconocido como el mejor contratenor de México y como una de las mejores voces líricas del país, se presenta en Morelia al lado del Trío Morelia dentro del Festival de Música Barroca y Antigua organizado por la Universidad Michoacana. El programa incluye obras vocales de Manuel de Sumaya, Giovanni M. Bononcini, P. Francesco Cavalli, Antonio Lotti, Giovanni Paisello, y Georg F. Händel, así como varias sonatas del manuscrito anónimo del siglo XVIII encontrado en la Catedral de la ciudad de México y la espectacular sonata Victori der Christen de Anton A. Schmeltzer.
El concierto es el próximo martes 23 de Septiembre a las 20 hrs en el Teatro José Rubén Romero de la ciudad de Morelia. La entrada es libre.

ESTRENO MUNDIAL DE OBRA DEL COMPOSITOR MICHAEL CORTES / WORLD PREMIERE OF A WORK BY COMPOSER MICHAEL CORTES
El día 18 de Septiembre a las 19:30 hrs. se realizará el estreno mundial de la obra Fanfare Europa (2008) del compositor norteamericano Michael Cortes; el estreno corre a cargo del UNT Symphonic Band, bajo la dirección del maestro Dennis W. Fisher, y tiene como solista a la organista Laura Carrasco.
Así mismo, este evento marca la inauguración del nuevo órgano tubular Ardoin-Voertman del constructor H. Wolff. La sede del concierto es la Winspear Performance Hall de la Murchison Performing Arts Center en el estado de Tejas (EEUU).

INAUGURACIÓN DE EXPOSICIÓN "PINCELES Y CINCELES MICHOACANOS" / OPENING OF THE EXHIBIT "PINCELES Y CINCELES MICHOACANOS"
El día viernes 12 de Septiembre a las 19:30 hs. será inaugurada la exposición "PINCELES Y CINCELES MICHOACANOS" en la que participa la artista visual Natalia Curíntzita. Esta muestra, organizada por la Secretaría de Cultura del Estado de Michoacán y el Centro de Convenciones de Morelia, estará abierta al público hasta el día 1 de octubre en el lobby principal del Teatro Morelos de la ciudad de Morelia.

ENTREVISTA SOBRE LA ACTIVIDAD DE UN ORGANISTA / INTERVIEW ABOUT THE CAREER OF AN ORGANIST
El pasado mes de Agosto la organista Laura Carrasco fue entrevistada para un programa especial de televisión por cable del canal María Visión; el propósito de este programa es dar a conocer aspectos menos conocidos de la carrera de un organista profesional, como por ejemplo el tipo de actividades que realiza, que clase de estudios y preparación son necesarios, el ambiente en donde se puede desempeñar profesionalmente, así como la importancia de apreciar los instrumentos de órgano tubular y su repertorio.
La entrevista tuvo como marco la Catedral de la ciudad de Morelia y será transmitida en fechas próximas.
